Police say a 29-year-old Texas man on a date with a woman went outside the cafe, shot a phony parking valet to death, and then went back inside to complete the date.

Click2Houston mentioned that the suspect, Erick Aguirre, was still on probation for an aggravated assault when he reportedly shot and killed Elliot Nix, 46, in Houston on April 11 over the fictitious parking plot.
KPRC reported that Aguirre, who is accused of murder, appeared in court on Thursday and had his bond set at $200,000.

Investigators said that the Texas man and the woman parked independently in the city’s EaDo district. Nix approached the couple and demanded $40 for both of their automobiles while pretending to be a parking attendant.
Investigators added in a report from The Guardian that Aguirre left his dinner date with a woman to get a gun from his car and kill Nix after learning from a waiter that a parking attendant had duped him.
The Washington Post stated that Aguirre told his date “everything was fine” before returning to the Rodeo Goat. After releasing surveillance images of Aguirre to the local media during their investigation into what they call simply the latest case in the US of a minor quarrel turning fatal, Houston police eventually arrested him on a count of murder.

Woman Not Included in Arrest
Meanwhile, the woman on the date with Aguirre was “shocked to see a photo of herself on the news and to hear that she was a person of interest” in the investigation, her lawyer Rick DeToto said in the same report from The Guardian.
DeToto claimed that after seeing the pictures, his client freely spoke out to the police, which resulted in Aguirre’s arrest. She was “devastated” to learn of Nix’s passing but won’t be prosecuted about the shooting.
